    Job Description

    In compliance with the graphic identity defined by the producer, with the production schedule and quotas, and under the responsibility of the CG Sup as well as the production management, each artist will be responsible for the surfacing of the sets and props assets that will be assigned to them as well as all the technical and artistic retakes that may be requested of them, from model creation to the delivery to the rendering lighting department.

    Profile

    The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:
    • Experience as a Surfacing artist
    • Good paint technique
    • Mastery in Substance Painter and Designer
    • Good knowledge of a popular rendering engine (preferably Arnold)

    Context 

    As part of a new international animated feature film, Mikros Animation is looking for Digital Matte Painting artists to join its great team! 

    Job Description 

    Under the responsibility of the MattePainting Supervisor, the Mattepainter works on the 2D and 2.5D painted sets, on 360° skydomes or generic mattepainting assets, as well as extensions of the CG environment for the feature length movie. 

    Responsabilities

    • Produce the mattepainting sets of the film in accordance with the vision of the director and the artistic director 
    • Transpose the references/concept/colorkeys in final images technically-ready to be delivered to the Compositing department 
    • Create scenery, landscapes and environments within a 3D décor and using a wide range of tools (2D and 3D)  
    • Work closely with the DMP supervisor on image composition, design, style, lighting and graphic transposition topics in accordance with the feature length movie objectives 
    • Create and project the paintings (2D) in 3D in accordance with the technical specifications of the project (mono) 
    • Correct and ensure the technical consistency of one's own work: resolution, technical and artistic quality of the mattepainting, correction of stretching if necessary 
    • Work directly with the Art Department, Layout, Lighting and Compositing.

    Profile

    Skills required…  
    • Painter and illustrator skills (ideally a BG concept/color artist profile, or VFX mattepainter with a good level of drawing) 
    • Good knowledge of Maya 
    • Strong knowledge of Nuke and Photoshop

      We are looking for a dynamic Production Accountant who will look after aspects of film finance.   Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:   
    • Support the financial controller in preparing detailed cost estimates for the run of the projects;
    • Prepare Analysis to the financial controller on the profitability of each show, and provide insight into opportunities and risks;
    • Perform cost analysis of ongoing shows;
    • Controlling, recording and reconciling costs to ensure cost control and preparing regular costs and progress reports for management;
    • Report, forecast and analyze all future revenues and associated costs on ongoing projects.
    • Month end duties including reporting and forecasting all (future) revenues and costs on film projects

    Job Description

    The Crowd Supervisor takes care of the good execution of shots and sequences that include crowd elements. They will work closely with the Tech Anim Supervisor (who ensures and optimizes the manufacturing processes) and with the Extra  Animation Lead to ensure that the proper implementation of the directions is being defined to their departments. Under the supervision of the CG Animation Supervisor, the Crowd Supervisor regularly interacts with the Animation Director. They will participate in the analysis of the scenario in order to think ahead and propose different artistic and technical solutions for the difficult crowd shots. They will be part of the hiring process of the crowd team and supervise them during the production to ensure that all shots with Crowd elements are being properly executed.   

    Responsibilities 

    • Oversee the crowd effects feasibility and the method put in place for their creation;
    • Ensure that the implementation of the crowd shots is on time in accordance with the budget and the quality required by the Animation Director;

    Job Description

    The FLO/Stereo Supervisor first ensures that the final camera movement is technically and artistically in line with the director's wishes. Ensuring that the film's stereoscopy is produced. As the cornerstone of the project, the FLO/Stereo Supervisor collaborates with the Layout Supervisor, the Animation Director and the Director, while maintaining close contact with the Compositing Supervisor and the Confo Layout Supervisor.   During production, supervises the FLO and Stereo artists and ensures the proper implementation of the predefined directions.   

    Responsabilities

    • Responsible for the follow-up of the camera animations with the Director, the Layout Supervisor and the animation department   
    • Responsible for the stereoscopic production of the film in collaboration with all departments involved in the framing of the shots, as well as the methods implemented.

    Job Description

    The ‘Lead TD Image’ manages a Team of TDs contributing to the final look of the image. Working with teams of the Surfacing, Matte Painting, Lighting and Compositing departments and collaborating with the supervisors of these departments (and their artists) in order to optimize and maintain the tools used daily, including creating new ones when necessary. The Lead TD Image is part of the Pipeline team and as in any teamwork, may be required to assist teammates on other tasks than those expected of the position. Also in contact with the Softwares team, they participate in the good communication and collaboration between these 2 teams. 

     

    Responsabilities

    • Lead and technically guide the team to establish a high level of quality in the tools delivered while respecting production deadlines

    Job Description

      The Head of Pipeline is responsible for leading a team in charge of the development, deployment, and support of the Montreal Studio Pipeline. The Pipeline Supervisor does this in conjunction with the Technology Department leadership, as well as studio CG Supervisors and other Technical Leads, in order to maximize the return on investment in any Pipeline enhancements, while minimizing show risk and waste.   

    Responsabilities

     
    • Helps drive the design, implementation, and evolution of a standardized Pipeline Film animation Production. 
    • Leads a team of Department TDs and Pipeline Developers responsible for deploying, configuring, and supporting the existing Pipeline. 
    • Works with the other Head of Pipeline, senior Supervisors and Technical Leads to ensure that the Pipeline meets the needs of the studio at large and diverges as little as possible while still meeting the needs of the individual projects. 
    • Works with Production and Technology Management to ensure adequate support coverage to meet the demands of all active projects. 
    • Acts as an escalation point for Supervisors and Production Management to resolve pipeline and work-flow issues.

    Job Description

    Under the supervision of the CG Supervisor Image, the Supervisor Character Surfacing manages the operations of the department, including the look, UV's, textures and shading of the characters.    The Sup relies on both strong technical skills and an aesthetic sense to produce high quality images that are true to the style of the film.  

    Responsabilities

    • Establishe and create the final look of the characters and the necessary presets to achieve the desired final look  
    • Work with Leads & Sups from other Character departments to ensure that assets are consistent with the overall design of the characters in the film  
    •  Work in collaboration with the CG Supervisor to define the texture and shading workflow in relation to the pipeline 
    • Collaborate with the Leads of the relevant departments to prepare the assets for rendering  
    • Responsible for the optimization and consistency of the workflow, tools and resources of the surfacing department Characters  
    • Follow and collaborate on the progress of the tools under development with the teams concerned

    The rigging Supervisor is responsible for designing, creating and maintaining skeletons of characters, vehicles and accessories that enable the Animation team to achieve the desired results.
