    Job Description

    For this project where acting and action are at the heart, we are looking for we are looking for 3D Character Animators with experience and knowledge of the principles of character animation to join our growing team to create fun and stylized work. In our fast-paced studio, we are committed to creating high quality animation and great performances. Candidates will thrive as part of our team under the direction of the Animation Supervisor and Leads aiming together to achieve the film Director’s vision.

    Responsabilities

    Your primary responsibility will be the animation and performances of all assigned characters and props. We are looking for artists with a strong sense of design, an aptitude for facial animation and lip sync while maintaining strong fundamentals in weight, cartoony animation concepts as well as body mechanics.
    • Work with the storyboard/animatic/layout and create feature level, key-framed animation;
    • Working in continuity with shot before and after;
    • Work with animation quotas given by the production;
    • Work closely with Animation Leads and Director to bring the film to life;
    • Prepare elements for presentation in dailies and rounds for approval;
    • Actively participate in creating and maintaining the animation library.

    Profile

    Skills required...  
    • College diploma or equivalent in 3D computer graphics/3D animation;
    • More than 3 years (Mid) or more than 5 years (seniors) of proven work experience in 3D animation using MAYA in a film production/animated TV series;
    • A strong background in feature CG character animation, 2D animation and drawing/design skills, a plus;
    • Strong understanding of the principles of 2D cartoony animation as well posing, timing, weight and facial expressions;
    • Ability to understand and effectively interpret a storyboard and the Director’s feedback;
    • Ability to work within an established pipeline and learn to use custom tools;
    • Knowledge of RV and Shotgun useful;
    • An eye for whacky, cartoony animation, being ok with bending and breaking animation rules;
    • A Team player who has excellent communication skills;
    Additional assets: 
    • Strong skills in quadruped animation is a must for Seniors, while Mids are required to have some knowledge.

    Job Description

    Under the supervision of the Animation Director, the Lead Animator ensures that the artistic vision of the Director is respectedManaging a team of animators and reviewing their work while providing them with technical assistance and guidance.  In addition to the artistic and technical responsibilities, the Animation Lead assists in the recruitment of his team and participates in interviews

    Responsabilities

    • Work directly with the Animation Director and other Animation Leads to participate in the research of the style and quality targeted for the project by the Director. 
    • Participate in the hiring of their animation team. 
    • Supervise, guide and technically/artistically evaluate their team. 
    • Work on the storyboard/animatic/layout and create interpretations of key-frame animations  
    • Maintain the plan-to-plan work continuity at a level of quality required.

    Context

    Mikros Animation is currently working on various full CG feature films, including Tiger's Apprentice (Paramount Feature Animation) directed by Carlos Baena and produced by Paramount Animation in Paris.  We are currently looking for a Lead for our Extra Animation department to work on this great project!

    Job Description

    In charge of a team of 6-8 Animators, the Lead Animation Extra guarantees the proper execution of shots that would include elements of Extra Animation (ex: character animations with a specific secondary action, not procedurally managed). The Lead’s team also help provide the crowd team with cycles and action elements that at “procedurally” managed by the crowd team.  Thusthey collaborate closely with the Crowd team and Supervisor, as well as with the Animation Director and the various "MainAnim" Leads. All their work is closely monitored by the Tech Anim Supervisor who ensures and optimizes the manufacturing processes, as well as by the CG Supervisor who ensures that the expectations set by the Animation Director are well targeted.  In addition to the artistic and technical responsibilities, the Animation Lead assists in the recruitment of their team and participates in interviewing them.

    Responsabilities

    • To coach, guide and evaluate technically and artistically a team of animators of senior, intermediate and junior levels in the realization of their Extra Animation shots
    • Participate in the hiring and lead a team of 6-8 artists
    • Work jointly with Main Animation Leads for a joint and coherent elaboration of the coordinated actions between the “Main” and “Extra” characters in the shots
    • Work jointly with the Crowd Supervisor, while providing them and the Crowd department with cycleous animations
    • Maintain the continuity of shot work at the required quality level required and in line with the entire Animation department

    Job Description

    Under the supervision of the CG Animation Supervisor, the Crowd Supervisor regularly interacts with the Animation Director. From the beginning of the project participating in the analysis of the various scenarios that occur during production to find different artistic proposals and technical solutions.   Participating in the hiring of the crowd team and supervising them during production to ensure that all shots with Crowd elements are being properly executed. As well as working closely with the Tech Anim Supervisor (who ensures and optimizes the manufacturing processes) and with the Extra Animation Lead to ensure that the proper implementation of the directions is being defined to their departments. 

    Responsabilities

    • Oversee the crowd effects feasibility and the method put in place for their creation. 
    • Ensuring that the implementation of the crowd shots is on time in accordance with the budget and the quality required by the Animation Director. 
    • Work jointly with the Extra Animation Lead, notably by recovering the cyclic animations to supply the Crowd department. 
    • Supervise the Crowd team and providing them with aesthetic, technical and methodological guidelines. 
    • Participate in the development of the Crowd Maya/Goalem Pipeline. 
    • Address technical issues and identify best practices for the team. 
    • Work closely with production to deliver shots on time.

  • LINE PRODUCER

    Project : Multifilms

    Position Overview

      In the context of the development of its animation projects, Mikros Animation Paris and Montreal are looking for a Line Producer.   The Line Producer is a key member of the production team.   He/She manages the production budget, hires and manages key members of the team, while negotiating with the HR, agreements with the artists.   He/She works closely with the Directors, Executive Producer, Artistic Director, CG Supervisor and Heads of Department to manage changes in planning and budget along the way.   During production, he/she is ultimately responsible for the smooth running of the activities and ensures the respect of deliverables, deadlines and costs.   The Line Producer reports to the Head of production of Mikros Animation and directly supervises a team of production managers and coordinators in charge of the manufacturing departments.  

    Responsabilities

     
    • Provide and adapt frequently a detailed project delivery plan to the executive producer and supervisors
    • Provide weekly and monthly progress reports on the outstanding amount and the balance to be produced
    • Plan studio resources to create an effective approach to CG work
    • Build and operate in cooperation with the relevant head of departments a production strategy to guarantee delivery and quality (quota plan / approval charts and reports / …).
    • Ensure that the team understands the objectives and delivery dates of the sequences, research and development projects, etc.
    • Work closely with supervisors to ensure the work schedule is on track and meet quality standards.
     

    Competencies

     
    • A minimum of 5+ years of experience as project manager in CG Animation or VFX.
    • Experience as a producer within a production-oriented environment.
    • Experience in project management with Shotgun software or similar is considered as a great asset.
    • Good understanding of CG processes.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Experience in team management, negotiation and budget management.
    • Experience on an animated feature film is a strong asset
    • A good knowledge of Excel and project management software are valuable for this position

  • CG SUPERVISOR

    Overview

      In the context of the development of its animation projects, Mikros Animation Paris and Montreal are looking for a CG Supervisor.   The CG Supervisor, in collaboration with the Director & Producer (as well as with the Art, Lookdev, Asset Creation/Completion and other Production Departments), develops the technical approach needed to achieve the desired Look and behavior of the assets in a Fully Computer Animated Feature Film.

    Responsibilities

     
    • Identify, define, prioritize, and implement a specific creative workflow process which will enhance the productions creative tools.
    • Create, develop, and build consensus between the Technology, Artists, and Production Management department to assist the Director(s) in realizing their vision(s).
    • Work closely with HR department, Line Producer and producer to define recruiting goals to achieve the appropriate balance of qualified talents.
    • Work with Technology, Lookdev, and Production Management to define and produce R&D goals for the production. These goals should be based on the look, the pipeline, and workflow of all the departments.

    Profile

     
    • Serious knowledge in Maya, ShotGun, Katana, Arnold , Nuke  (Essential)
    • Excellent interdepartmental communication skills ( CG Producer, the artistic department and with the “floor team”)
    • High sense of communication especially with the directors, Line producer , the Art Department and with the  “ floor team”
    • Completely bilingual (French/English)
    • Should have completed one CGI animation movie as a CG sup.

  • PRODUCTION MANAGER

    Overview

      In the context of the development of its animation projects, Mikros Animation Paris and Montreal are looking for a Production Manager.   Reporting to the Head of Production, the Production Manager has an essential role in production.   He/She is responsible for the day-to-day management of the production activities. He/She guarantees the respect of the schedules, the quality of the deliverables to reach the objectives defined by the production.   He/She works closely with the Head of Production, Producer, CG Supervisor and Departments Supervisors to manage changes in planning.  

    Responsibilities

     
    • Assist the Head of Production in the development of production strategy.
    • Maintain overall production schedule and manage departmental quotas.
    • Make recommendations for improvements to production workflow, particularly with-respect-to scheduling, flow of information and resource management.
    • Send weekly report to the Head of Production with Production Updates.
    • Maintain production crew lists updated.
    • Approve artistes time sheets.
    • Daily interaction with the client on production related needs and deliveries.
     

    Profile

     
    • More than 3 years of experience as production manager or production coordinator.
    • Experience in the production of 3D animation.
    • In-depth knowledge of the production and animation workflow.
    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, especially with Excel.

    The Tiger’s Apprentice is a well-balanced animated feature filmFilled with action and emotional moments, based on human AND creature performances.   Under the supervision of their Lead and the Animation Director, the  Animators will be in charge of animating characters and props while ensuring, that the artistic vision of the Director is respected.   Department entries will take place between January and Spring 2021. The entire department as well as the Animation Director will be based in Paris (given the global health crisis, this information may change over time).

    Job Description

    The Tiger’s Apprentice is a well-balanced animated feature filmFilled with action and emotional moments, based on human AND creature performances.   Under the responsibility of the Supervisor and their Lead, the Layout Match/Confo artists bring a strong knowledge of a large production pipeline and are required to collaborate with various departments. 

    Responsabilities

    • Reconstructing Layout plans from the client with Mikros assets
    • Ensure the validity of the plan (framing, casting, setdressing, duration, )
    • Ensure the validity of the plans sent to downstream departments (Anim, Crowd, CFX, FX)
    • Generate plans for the following departments
    • Build plans for Lighting by gathering the elements of the upstream departments (Anim, FX, Rigging)
    • Set up the plans to validate composition and decoration according to the customer's requests
    • Ensure possible retouching of props (Modeling/Surfacing)
    • Ensure the validity of the plans sent to the Lighting
    • Ensures continuity problems are identified, corrected or escalated
    • Resolve any problems or escalate to the appropriate department
